Creations from Lake Michigan beach sand

My sandcasts are done using Lake Michigan beach sand. An impression is made in the sand and then filled with plaster. The “mold” is made with found objects or carvings that I have made either in wood or wax. I also like to add natural elements like driftwood, glass or stones. No two casts are ever the same!

We did these at the beach when I was a little girl.. I thought everyone brought a bag of plaster to the beach!
